Ferdinand August Kauer , 1751/01/18 (Dyjákovičky, South Moravia)‒1831/04/13 (Vienna). Kauer studied medicine then, in 1777, moved to Vienna and supported himself teaching piano and continuing his musical studies. By 1781, he was conductor and leader of the orchestra in the new Leopldstadt Theatre. he also served as Kapellmeister at the Theater in der Josefstadt. He wrote over 200 operas and singspiels as well asover twenty masses, requiems, symphnies, quartets, concertos, etc. In poverty by 1820, almost all his scores were destroyed in the great Danube flood of 1830.
