Giulio Briccialdi , 1818 (Terni, Papal States)‒1881 (Florence). Known in his day as the “Paganini of the flute,” Braccialdi invented the B-flat thumb key for the Boehm flute. Later in life, he taught at the conservatory in Florence, Italy.
