Anton Stepanovich Arensky , 1861/07/31 (Novgorod, Russia)‒1906/02/25 (Tarioki, Finland). Pianist and composer, studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with Johanssen and Rimsky-Korsakov. Professor, Moscow Conservatory, where his students included Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, and Gretchaninov. Director, Imperial Court Choir. Composer of operas and ballets, a piano concerto, and much symphonic and chamber music.
